Product is okay, but there’s a but.
This kit is designed for using an Ian Canada Monitor Pi hooked up to his/your stack of audio HAT’s.
Ian is a big supporter of very extensive battery or supercap based power supplies, something I fully agree with.
These however, are severely space consuming solutions.
The PCB holding the Raspberry Pi and the audio stack will have to reside at the the rear of your cabinet: in order to avoid using extension cables on your extremely sensitive audio sockets, the in and outputs need to be directly accessible at the rear of your cabinet.
The Monitor Pi (pro) however needs to be at the front panel, or it’s of no real use. It’s nice two different lengths flat cables are in the kit, but even the 6” (30.5 cm) flat cable isn’t nearly long enough to cover the distance.
It would be nice if, in the future, a 12” flat cable would be part of kit. Now I have to buy one from the PRC. It’s not about the cost, but all about the effort.
excellent hardware, documentation is the only reason it's not 5/5. The documentation is good, but a bit scattered with all the different types of pieces and the way they can go together. Awesome stuff!
extremely useful
As with all of Ian’s designs, it we’ll make and a great solution if you want the display decoupled from the main system.
High quality product. Everything from Iancanada is amazing.
