Introduction
Safely discharging ultracapacitors in the field would be a very important thing before you remove/replace them form a power supply PCB, or to reset/rebalance the ultracapacitors.
UcDumper is a specially designed high performance high power ultracapacitor discharger with Smart current limitation function. It can safely discharge ultracapacitors in the field by just simply plugging in the cable into a connector on a power supply PCB.
Note:
- Please be careful don't touch the possible hot surface of UcDumper when it is in use.
- The heatsink is isolated from the circuit. But please be careful about the rest of the circuit not to short circuit.
- The recommended voltage range is 0-5V. Higher voltage will be OK, but the discharge time will be longer. Please never exceed 15V.
Features and Specifications
- High reliability SMT power resistor array configuration.
- Discharge ultracapacitors in the field.
- Compact size with heatsink.
- LED indicator shows the ultracapacitor voltage status. LED will light up if the voltage is higher than 1.5V.
- Rated power: 10W.
- Rated resistance: 3.3 ohm @25 degree C.
- Maximum discharge voltage: 15V.
- Discharge current: 1A@3.3V; 1.5A@5V.
- Current limitation: 3A. After the limitation is reached, the discharge current will be reduced automatically to a lower level to keep the UcDumper power consumption and temperature within a safe range. But the discharge time will be longer.

Directions of use
1. First, please disconnect the power input from the power supply on which the ultracapacitors are installed.
2. How to discharge the ultracapacitors in the field?
UcConditoner/Pro: Connect to the J1 of a UcConditioner from J2 of DuDumper using the supplied PH2.0 cable. For all UcConditioner/Pro versions.

PurePi or UcPi: Connect to the J7 of a PurePi or J4 of a UcPi from J2 of DuDumper using the supplied PH2.0 cable. For all versions.

UcPure: Connect to the J10/J13 of a UcPure, or J2/J3 if a UcBalancer is use for the UC pack, from J1 of DuDumper using the supplied Molex cable. For all versions.

UcPure Quad: Connect to the J10/J13 of a UcPureQuad, from J1 of DuDumper using the supplied Molex cable. For all versions.

3. When the discharging will be finished?
When the voltages over the ultracapacitors are dropped below 0.1V or one hour after the UcDumper LED turns off. But you can also just simply discharge them for over night.
4. If the voltage of single ultracapacitor is still higher than 0.1V after fully discharged, what to do?
You should discharge the remaining voltage by connecting to the two pins of each ultracapacitors from T1 and T2 of the UcDumper using the cable with Alligator Clips (supplied with #63B or user prepare).
